'The Touch' strikes again.
The Harmony Remote died on the weekend.
No amount of poking, prodding reseting or new batteries will bring it back to life.
The screen just says the same thing and glows at random moments.

This Forced us to dig the collection of remotes out of storage and return to "what..? Which...What button?!" method of controlling the various devices in the loungeroom.

!Not a problem!" says I "For payday is just around the corner!"
So I buy a new one. No problem - Get it home, Open it, and program it with the existing set up in about 3 minutes flat.

Works perfectly.

'Yay!' exclaims I.

For Laughs I decide to take the old one apart.
I take it apart, put it back together, and put the old batteries back in.
The TV turns off.
...
Confused I look at the remote.
The LCD display is now working again.
I hit a few buttons and lo and behold the bloody thing is working again.

Long story short -
I spent money I didn't need to and Now I have excess brand new hardware.

Anyone local in the market for a Logitech Harmony Universal 525 Remote ?
Im going to keep the new one for a week in case this is just electronic weirdness, but after that, if you feel like shelling out 100 bucks for it, Its yours.
These guys retail for $120 at JB, and it's quite literally brand new.
Barring some mangled packaging it has all the original bits and I can even provide the receipt.

Actually, I'm a bit tempted. We kinda had a puppy incident here in which one of the buttons "mysteriously" got chewed off the DVD remote.
Does the Harmony care how cheap and crappy your hardware is? My DVD was an el cheapo from Panasales.

It should be fine.
The harmony has a relatively large database of existing hardware, and can also 'learn' from other remotes that it doesn't already know about.

Tempted!:) But I recommend you hang onto it a little while. If the other one died it might be on its way out, you never know...

How much remoting would one have to do to get this 'numb thumb' phenomena they speak of???

Ah... The Microsoft method.

It'll probably explode or delete all your channel settings the day after you sell the new one.
