-Mainly about TV.
Now that Supernatural has finished for the season, and I've got some time on my hands, I need to find replacement viewing ;
- Have decided to start watching Criminal Minds again.
I really liked this show when I started, and upon my return to Australia, I had to curtail my downloading, and thus had to had to give up several of my 'stories'.
I have a soft sport of Mandy Patinkin, appearing as he does, in several of my favourite series/movies over the years - Plus, Criminal Minds seems to tick all my boxes in terms of what I like in a TV series -
Well..about Serial Killers anyway.
The predictability that other crime dramas seems to have, sometimes even needing to *show* you how the crime was committed, and by whom, in the first 3 minutes, is absent from Criminal Minds, instead relying on a good solid unfolding of the plot across the episode.
- Castle.
Has anyone looked at this yet?
Something new starring Nathan Fillion coming out of the US.
Near as I can tell, its Bones without the Science(tm).
Or just perhaps an updated version of Murder She Wrote maybe..
Except with Nathan Fillion as a smart arsed author, and no doubt some plucky, touchy female enforcement officer with a 'Past' of some kind.
The reviews I've caught in brief seem to give it good ratings, But I'm still a little hesitant to dip my toes into this particular water.
It seems like it could get old quite quickly. The scchtick, as it t'were running out of..well...schtick.
- Bones.
I'm still a season or so behind on Bones, having just started watching season 4.
As usual, its the slightly whacked out scripts, and characterisation which attracts me to this show. I remember seeing the pilot and being hooked instantly, despite the teething problems that a pilot, and indeed a series first season always seems to have.
It helps, in some small way, that the theme is done by The Crystal Method.
It doesn't help that the cuts/scene links are done in a particularly terrible lensflare blurred glass kind of fashion that I find hackneyed and annoying.
- Lie To Me.
Definitely enjoying this so far.
Tim Roth makes this show for me, Basically, because he gets to walk around being Tim Roth.
Capitalising on the whole slightly whacky/off center, genius in field character which was such a success for House, Lie To Me, is more a study of human nature, rather than the 'ITS NOT LUPUS AGAIN!' brand of plot point. Which I find I'm enjoying, even if it is a little predictable at times.
So thats what Im watching right now.
That an QI, which as always, is full of awesome.
